“The Trevor Helpline is the only national crisis and suicide prevention helpline for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.
The Helpline is a free and confidential service that offers hope and someone to talk to, 24/7. Trained counselors listen and understand without judgment.
There is hope, there is help.
Be proud of who you are.” – The Trevor Project Website
Why The Trevor Project?
We here at SpashleyU really wanted a way to give back to the community that South of Nowhere has given a voice and visibility to. For too long there has been a serious lack of strong GLBT lead characters in shows geared towards the 16 – 21 age range. An age when we are struggling with who we are, what we like and what we will become, we need to see ourselves reflected back in the media, to know that we are not alone in the struggle to be who we are.
Just as South of Nowhere provided GLBT and questioning youth with a voice on national television through the groundbreaking characters of Spencer Carlin and Ashley Davies, The Trevor Project has been there to listen to over 100,000 voices on their hotline. We decided to pay tribute to this show, its creator, Tom Lynch and the cast and crew by giving back in its name to the community that it gave a voice to. As South of Nowhere has made a difference in our lives, we can help make a difference in others. Don’t Silence Us.
How Can You Help?
Want to own one of these?

We are now accepting donations for The Trevor Project. Anyone who donates more than $5 will receive a wristband, designed by the very lovely BlueShade with just a little help from the other SpashleyU admins. The money for the first 500 wristbands was generously donated to us from an anonymous donor and the postage to mail them out was mostly donated and raised by us here at SpashleyU, so every dollar we raise from the first 500 wristbands will go directly to The Trevor Project.
Along with the wristband we are sending two specially designed postcards to send to the N to let them know you made a donation in Spashley and South of Nowhere’s name to help make a difference for LGBT and questioning youth nationwide, as Spashley and South have made a difference in our lives.
We will also send along with the wristband and the postcards, more information about The Trevor Project, what they do, how they have helped thousands of LGBT Youth and more ways to get involved with their worthy organization.
